3-21-2008 - Saturday test dates now offered in LA and San Diego! 2008-03-21
The CA DOI is now temporarily offering insurance exams on Saturday at the Los Angeles and San Diego test centers. The new Saturday tests are being offered on a temporary basis to alleviate the long wait for test dates currently being encountered in LA (four weeks) and San Diego (three weeks). If you have an exam scheduled and would like to try to reschedule for an earlier Saturday please follow the exam rescheduling directions on the CA DOI site at www.insurance.ca.gov.

New CA Insurance Courses Pending Approval - 2007-12-03
Happy Holidays!! In rapid response to the new insurance licenses and examinations created by the California Department of Insurance (Effective January 1, 2008) we have submitted the following online courses for approval with the CA DOI:
- CA Life-Only - This license will allow individuals to sell life insurance, including annuities and credit life. The pre-license requirement is 20-Hour plus 12-Hours for Ethics and code. The exam will be 75 questions long and will have a 90 minute time limit. 70% is the required minimum passing score.
- CA Accident & Health Only - This license will allow individuals to sell health insurance, including 24-Hour Care Coverage. The pre-license requirement is 20-Hour plus 12-Hours for Ethics and code. The exam will be 75 questions long and will have a 90 minute time limit. 70% is the required minimum passing score.
- CA Auto Limited Lines - This license will allow individuals to sell personal lines auto insurance only. The pre-license requirement is 20-Hour plus 12-Hours for Ethics and code. The exam will be 60 questions long and will have a 90 minute time limit. 70% is the required minimum passing score.

CA DOI Creates New Exams and Licenses Effective January 1, 2008 - 2007-12-02
New Life Agent License Requirements - Life-Only Agent and/or Accident and Health Agent
Assembly Bill 720 (De Leon, Chapter 270, Statutes of 2007) was signed into law and will take effect on January 1, 2008. The new law makes significant changes to the Life Agent license requirements, which includes changes to the prelicensing and continuing education (CE) requirements contained in Section 1749 et seq. of the California Insurance Code (CIC).
Specifically,
New Limited Lines Automobile Insurance Agent Requirements
Assembly Bill 797 (Coto, Chapter 271, Statutes of 2007) was signed into law and will take effect on January 1, 2008. This legislation creates a Limited Lines Automobile Insurance Agent license and establishes the prelicensing and continuing education requirements for this new license. The attached notice titled “New Limited Lines Automobile Insurance Agent Requirements” provides information on the education requirements for this new license type.
New Prelicensing Educational and Examination Objectives
The California Department of Insurance (CDI) has available on its Web site (www.insurance.ca.gov) the Prelicensing Educational and Examination Objectives for “Life-Only Agent”, “Accident and Health Agent”, and “Limited Lines Automobile Insurance Agent.” These new Educational Objectives provide Education Providers with the outline that must be followed in order to have their Life-Only, Accident and Health, and the Limited Line Automobile Insurance Agent prelicensing course approved.
